WSS specializes in outdoor LED lighting installations on trees and buildings to make those long winter nights shine.

Employing a skilled team of arborists and rope access technicians, we are able to take on the most demanding jobs safely and efficiently. We are extremely unique in that we don’t use mechanical equipment like a boom truck or cherry picker to install your lights. We use ladders and rope systems. Our techniques are absolutely safer for us and gentler on your property, as large, heavy equipment can harm your yard and has many access limitations. The owner of West Side Services, Zack Smith has over 15 years in the industry and has built a rock solid reputation for the quality of his work, quick installation times, and attention to details.

Styles:

A popular design for a home entails lighting the roof line along the gutters or shingles which creates an elegant outline of your home. Add a few trees in your front yard for a dramatic effect that ties everything together. Driving up your street and seeing your home illuminated is a real joy again and again.

For larger commercial projects we are only limited by imagination - almost anything is possible! We have lit up restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels, and entire downtowns. Any business can benefit from holiday lighting - customers do notice!  Some of our more spectacular projects have included lighting trees up to 100' tall!

At West Side Services we will help you design the perfect lighting for your unique project.  We tend to say that less can be more. We prefer a classic, minimalism approach and most often choose a soft white color of bulb. This look is timeless and elegant. We shy away from the “Griswold Family Christmas” style.

How it all works:

  • Call or email us to arrange a free on site estimate. We are happy to answer any questions at this time.

  • The estimate is straightforward and the pricing quote is guaranteed. No surprises. For buildings, we measure the linear feet needed and charge by the foot. There is one bulb each foot. For trees we calculate the height and density of the tree, consider access concerns, and determine the style of lighting you prefer. We are more than happy to explain our pricing and model to you in person.

  • We only use top of the line commercial grade LED lights and wiring. These are not products you can purchase at a retail store. On each building or tree we custom cut the wiring to your home down to the inch, no out-of-place extension cords dangling down or snaking across your yard! This system has been refined over the years and customers are amazed at how clean and tidy it looks, even in the daytime. On rooflines we use C9 or C7 bulbs with black wiring that is amazingly thin. We attach every light to your building with a removable plastic clip that does zero damage to your structure. On trees we use green wiring with LED coaxial mini-lights - the standard for wet climates like the PNW. When we climb your trees we are always cautious to prevent damage. We would never use spikes or employ any technique that would do harm - we love trees!

  • The first year you purchase lights from West Side Services. You now own these lights. As long as you have us remove them every year we guarantee the lights for 3 seasons. If any lights need replacement during this 3 year period there is NO CHARGE. After 3 seasons we can replace lights as needed at our wholesale cost. If you choose to leave tree lights up year-round we guarantee our products for one year after the date of install. We want to have long term relationships with our clients. The vision is to work with you every year for many years! Yes, there is an upfront cost in buying our lights, but if treated and stored properly, the lights can last a decade or more. We hate throwing lights into the landfill and we do everything we can to make them last year after year.

  • We DO NOT install lights that we don't provide.  We want to stand out from other lighting businesses by guaranteeing our work 100%. The only way we can do this is to use our own products that we know and trust. Because of this we do not work with icicle lights or incandescent lights.

  • All lights are set with easy to use timers, with a thorough explanation on how to use them.

  • When it is time to remove the lights we take them down at a fixed cost.  For residential projects this is between $150-$300. For larger commercial projects the removal cost will be estimated at the on site meeting. We prefer to store the lights with you in a clearly marked, robust bin. We will help you find a place to put them in your garage, attic, basement, etc. If you cannot store the lights yourself we are happy to do it for a small fee.

  • Installation season begins October 1st and ends December 1st.  If October sounds early, just remember you can turn them on when desired. Take-downs can be done any time after January 1st. Many of our clients enjoy their tree lights so much they leave them up from October until April and just call them "Winter Lighting"!

  • We can get overwhelmed with demand right before the holidays. It's never too early to call and get on our install list! New clients are met in the order that calls are received. Return clients are ALWAYS guaranteed an installation.

Glenwood Hot Springs Resort decided to go all out with our Christmas Lights. We were lucky enough to find West Side Lighting, which is a local company right here in the Roaring Fork Valley. The owner, Zack Smith, helped us design a plan for a large holiday lighting project, which includes 3,000 feet of lights on several large buildings and 3 enormous trees. He has a ton of experience, which shows in the professional way his team implements the plan. Zack is on-site managing the installation and removal. Then he follows up throughout the season to make sure everything is working and that we are happy. West Side Lighting really exceeded our expectations!
